I agree with what Roger says. I would just ask, How do you know the battery won"t take a charge now? Have you tried charging it since the time you had hooked your cables in the way that you THOUGHT was wrong? Sometimes with the corrosion that can build up on battery posts and cables, a charger cable can be a bit stubborn to get solidly connected. Try it again using the polarity as Roger explained and leave the charger on for a few hours. As soon as you get it properly connected you should see a strong charge current reading on your charger"s ammeter. Then that reading will slowly decrease as the charge builds up. Shouldn"t have caused any damage with the connection you did.
