Hello, I am hopeful to get some info on some sources for parts for my Sickle Bar mower. Last year I started rehabbing it to try to use it to cut hay... It went SO SO. Here is the info! I took off the Sickle and replaced all the knives with underserrated knives and replaced the rivets with bolts. I Replaced the pitman arm and all those bolts as well. I put it back together and tried it out. This is mounted on the rear of my Super A. It worked so so... It tended to bunch up on the bar too much in my opinion really. I Only made probably about 1000 to 1500 feet of cutting. Then the belt broke! hehe. Here is what I am hoping to find out. 1. I am worried my rock guards are too far gone. many of them have no Edge left to cut against. The Plates are dull. Should I replace all these? IF so is there any other good source than an IH dealer? 2. Where can I get that belt? IH again? 3. THe piece of wood that is on the top of the sickle bar that pushes the cut hay away from the uncut hay... Mine is broken off or gone. Can I try to make that out of like a 1x4 or something? 4. Last and maybe more important. How do I properly set it up to cut correctly? I have read to keep the top ahead of the part nearest the tractor. Lead it so to speak. How do you properly set the knives against the plates? Should they be tight? THank you for your help. If you know of any good places to buy these parts please post or email me. Much Appreciated!
