Thank you very much. I also thought that I would be better off connecting to the solenoid.
I will visit Radio Shack and see what they can do for me. It hadn't occurred to me to use an adhesive backed sticky thing. I wanted the switch near the dash, but did not want to be drilling holes in it either.
