John T, wiring help, almost understand

Thanks for you thoughts, this tractor doesnt have lights and the ammeter/swich box has been smashed. So im not concerned about any of that just want to get power to the coil. I have a three prong regulator. I drew a little picture and wondered if this might work and if not any suggestions what might. Thank you 6 volt bat
