If you have a volt meter I would check that charging voltage before you pull the alternator. That alternator does have an inernal regulator. It must be charging if your amp meter shows a charge. Does the battery crank the engine ok when the engine is cold? I think that amp meter should show more than a 4 amp charge when you first start the tractor then gradually decrease the rate of charge as the battery is recharged. The way you described what was happening before you changed pulley's is about normal with your amp meter showing 20 amps then decreasing as the battery is recharged. Hal
