We bought a 706 new in 1967 and a 766 new in 1974. We got rid of the 766 in 1996 and kept the 706 if that tells you anything. We always had trouble with the 766's steering/front end. The cab seemed to have been engineered as an afterthought. The engine had to be rebuilt when it was about a year old with several hundred hours. It was under warranty, they said the rings had never seated properly. I never had much experience with newer models, I believe they were better than the 66's. It just seemed to us that IH wasn't on the ball during that time period. Good luck, Gene
