I gotta agree with Hal n Rusty, there shouldnt be any voltage getting to the coil from which the points closure allows curent flow IF SHES WIRED CORRECT AND THE IGNITION SWITCH IS OPERATING PROPERLY. Put a test lamp on the coils high input (from ignition switch not to distributor) terminal and turn the ignition on n off n see if it goes dead off when the igniiton is off as it should?????????? if not, check the wiring harness and the ignition switch itself cuz there shouldnt be any voltage on its ign output (to coil) terminal when its switched to OFF.
