Modern equipment doesn't require any where near the seperate lubrication steps that machinery did 40-50 years ago. Then each gear, axle, pulley, shaft, and sliding part as well as every gear box had a daily (or even more frequent) lubrication schedule. My 1954 New Holland Model 80 baler has 37 grease zerks, three gear boxes (differnt grade of grease for each)a hydralic system, five chain drives(oil daily) PLUS the Wisconsin V-4 Engine! Once, I came into lunch after having serviced the machine and my wife asked if I had just greased myself and then rubbed it off on the baler as I crawled around. Mounted corn pickers were even worse!
