Dean: If your 140 is serial number is 27110, then it is a case of knowing what decals were previously on there, or does it have a foot throttle and does it have square front axle with brace to clutch housing. If yes to those last two items, you have an International 140. If not you have a Farmall.

37110 could be quite different. Is there anything left of the old decals? Even right down to model badge. Starting in 68 all IH deacals had a major change, gone was the word McCormick, just under Farmall or International. From then on the major side hood decal became International on all IH tractors. Farmalls models had the word Farmall in 1" high letters on the model badge. All US built tractors except the 140 had a grill change, going from the 06 type grill to the 56 type grill. It is unclear exactly what serial number the change was made on 140 decals. Some say late 67 while others say mid 68. I have seen late 67 models with new type decals and I've seen a couple of early 68 with old type decals. I suspect with repaints, some have had the wrong decals applied.

If you want to get it excatly right, any trace of the old decals would be very helpful, especially if your serial number is 37110. I would like to know anything you find myself. Your 140 is amoung the last 200 built in 67, assuming 37110 is correct.

Today's Featured Article - Farmall 460: That's My Girl - by LeAnn R. Ralph. How many sounds can you think of that are as familiar to you as your own breathing? What about the hum of your refrigerator? Or the thump of your clothes dryer? Maybe the engine of your car? You hear those sounds every day, and you don't think much about them, do you. I can think of a few common, ordinary sounds in my daily life, too. ... [Read Article]
