gots to be wired wrong as the only terminal to have 6v would be the one marked BATT this one comes from the control at the steering post. Field goes to F term on the gen. A term on the gen goes to the other term on the reg. What does the other term on the reg say. After getting the wires correct should show charge on the amp guage. If not ground the F term on the GEN it then should show charge if not the gen is bad. Have you checked for ground on the gen and the reg as they have to have a good ground. Have you polarized the gen?
