Why the ether question? I use a quick squirt on mine on the first start, because the glow plugs and wiring were fried before I got the tractor (European IH with a 3 cyl diesel). I've got the stuff together to repair the glow system, but am I going to have further problems??? Sorry to jump into someone elses post. As far as the smoke on the Kubota, assuming that the fuel system is OK, it could be a lower than recommended fuel quality. Also, if a cylinder is not warming up (glowplug), you'll get some extra smoke. There are some real busy bodies around here, and one of the farmers had an older tractor that smoked like a freight train. Someone reported him, and it turned out that he was using heating oil for fuel. He paid a bunch of money, flushed out his system and put real gasstation diesel in it, and cleared things up. Are you using diesel meant for cars and not truck/equipment grade (maybe a difference)? Good Luck Dave

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
