mountainman: You don't say how many acres, however if I wanted to plow up to 25 acres maybe even 40 acres, depends on how much time your prepared to spend plowing. I'd go 100, 130, 140, SC, 200 or 230 with fast hitch 2x12 plow. I've plowed as much as 100 acres per year with one of these. I don't recommend it though, lot of hours. I say this with small tractors, as I'm not sure the industry ever built anything better than fast hitch in the light hp class. My next step for 25 to 150, maybe 200 acres would be 656, 666, 686, 706, 756 or 766 diesels, with 4x16 semi-mounted plow. These are modern day tractors with excellent draft control, probably no company has improved on that 3 point hitch since. They are very efficient tractors, both from a durability and fuel economy point of view. Looking to the future and some other functions you may wish to use your tractor for, I'd stay newer than 1963 in tractors over 35 hp, you'll buy that draft controlled 3 point hitch for very few dollars. I say this just comparing price against older Farmalls with Fast Hitch and standard drawbars. Of course if you want to plow more than 150, just up the hp and the plow bottoms, just stay newer than 63. If you want to plow big acreage then you could go 350 hp articulated and 10 bottom plow. That is how I'd match them up, look at your acreage to plow and go from there.

The Day Tractor Lovers Dream About - by Angus Crawford. The day started at five o'clock on the morning of Friday, the January 29, 1999. My father, my sister, my uncle, my cousin and myself all climbed into my uncle's Toyota van. It was six thirty in the morning and we had a long day ahead. We traveled for six and a half hours to our destination - a little country town with a population of no more then one hundred and fifty people (57 of them being children under the age of thirteen). We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
