priority flow valve

I'm working on a stage II super H. It has Charlyn power steering with the Charlyn hyd. pump that is driven by the fan pulley. I'm going to run the steering motor off of the live hyd. This tractor will not have a loader on it but may be used with a single cylinder implement. Is a priority valve necessary, could I run a line from the pressure side of the hyd. system to the "in" side of the steering motor and another line from the "out" to return oil to the reservoir and not use a priority valve.
