If the Tstat is in backwards it will overheat. There is usually a stamping on the body rim that says this side to radiator. Defective tstats are not common, but do leave the factory. Check yours in a pan on the stove (rinse the pan well) As staed bel;ow fluid should circulate when at the 190 to 200 degree area. Nich find if you paid low bucks for it. JimN
