Farmall 130 carburator acting up

Yesterday morning I went out to plow snow, about -10C or 15F. 130 fired right up, initially I was plowing 1/2 throttle in 1st gear. After about 15 min. tractor started to sputter and at first was able to keep it running with choke. After about 2 min. and with choke out all the way it died. My first reaction was ice, thus I added some methyl hydrate to fuel, loosened fuel line at carb to insure fuel was coming and to speed up mh getting to carb. 10 min. plowing again 1/2 throttle and same thing. Next I removed elbo and screen to carb. It was not plugged, however I did blow air through it. 10 min. later and same thing again. This time I changed oil in breather, and put a wrench on carb mounting bolts. I got about a 1/4 turn on those. By now my yard and short little pushes were all cleaned up, just my 400' driveway left. Out of the shed and full throttle in 2nd gear pushing snow often to top of blade and lugging the tractor quite hard. I decided while things were working well to roll the snow well back on fields. This went on for about an hour, now i have a trail abot 30' wide that will allow me drifting space should the 130 not want to work well next time. Sure enough I got back to shed idled it down, while idling it stopped. it stopped 3 more times idling while I was backing it in the shed. All this morning action caused 90 min. plowing to take 3 hours. By then this old carcas was cold enough I decided fixing could wait for warmer time. Could a leak in the gasket between carb and manifold be causing this, or do I need to delve deeper into carb. I can tell you this carb ocasionally leaks while tractor is parked, thus I shut the gas off every night. It has been that way since the last carb kit close to 6 years ago. I'm just trying to decide whether I go for a gasket this am, or a complete carb kit. Any advice would be appreciated.
