To scotty, Rusty, vet and gene, thanks for all the advice and I must admit I had given thought to each and all suggestions. Vet your right the coils can almost drive one to drink, and yes gene I realize the cold weather would have that effect. However if you go back to point where I tightened carb to manifold and changed oil in breather, then I went plowing full throttle in second gear for a good hour. There was no ice under the snow not even frost in the soybean stubble, thus probably 80% of that hour I was luggung the tractor almost to it's rated horse power. In other words I really gave the tractor a good workout, it was well warmed up when I got back to the shed. Bear in mind it had not been off full throttle for that hour. Less than 30 seconds at idle and she died starting right back up and it died 3 times getting backed in, starting right back up each time. That tended to lead me away from coil, points, condencer, etc.

I have since removed the carb and disassembled. It probably needs a complete kit, however CaseIH don't have one in stock, they will have it by tomorrow. I cleaned it, blew out all prorts with air and put it back together. Three items I noticed; main jet was dirty, needle valve is worn and the gasket between the two halves was not sealing at end next to choke.

I put it back together as I have to go another direction other than CaseIH tomorrow, thus I will not get to them until Mon. It might snow on weekend. I expect what I've done will make it work as well or better than it did. I'll let you know in a couple of hours. 11:45 am here, thus I'll leave it until after lunch, that is unless I get sent out with it. Right now, it's on top of old newspaper on the old roll top desk. I am taking a bit of heat assembling a carb on the desk, but I had to use a bit of gasket black to cure the gasket. Then there is the smell of carburator just off from kitchen and dining room. I'm truly blessed enjoying such popularity.
