more then likely it is the worm gear. i would check that first. they get worn bad. onee way to tell if it is that is jack up the front and turn the whell to one side and see if it still sloppy. if is is solid and dosent have the play it had before you found your problime. have someone turn the wheel back and forth and hold you hand where it goes into mest the worm gear is it slops back and forth that is the problume. you may have more than one aera bad. one bad thing about narrow fronts.
