Tree Farmer: You say Super C with fast hitch was completely restored last year. You don't say what hydraulic components were removed during the restoration other than the hitch lift cylinder. If that hitch lift cylinder is all the hydraulic components that were ever off the tractor then air in system is not your problem. In fact air will only become a problem if the pump has been removed. The other matter you don't tell us, did the hydraulics work between restoration and hitch cylinder leak fix. Sequence of events is very important here to determine your problem. Did the rockshafts work between restoration and hitch cylinder fix? Did the hitch cylinder work? Two separate questions and we need two separate answers. You may wonder what I'm driving at and why I want to know the sequence of events. Here is why, if hydraulics were working at some point and you removed the hitch cylinder for repair, reinstalled it and added 1-1/2 pints of oil, and never rechecked the reservoir, it may be lower now than before you added the oil, in fact the reservoir could be empty. It will require more than 1-1/2 pints to fill that lift cylinder. As CNKS told you hydraulic function will remove air as long as fill plug is out. Remember that air must be replaced with oil. One other matter, if the pump was off at some point you may have an air lock. We had a guy few weeks back with this problem. Pump was installed dry. Soon as he worked some vasaline into pump gears it pulled oil along.
