I'm SURE you're exaggerating when you say it's putting as much fuel on the ground as it is in the engine. But leaking injection pumps, especially around the throttle shaft, are a VERY common problem across all makes. If you don't believe me, look at the paint on surfaces near the injection pump on almost any tractor more than about ten or fifteen years old. You'll usually see some signs of leakage.
