Nat, that seating trick is an old wives tale. It will serve no purpose other than to destroy an otherwise functional needle and seat. The trick I have learned is to thoroughly clean both the needle and the seat with spray can carb cleaner. Spray them down real good, to the point of being wasteful with the cleaner, and then blow dry with compressed air. Do this with a brand new assembly as well as the used ones. My theory is that there is some residue left from the manufacturing process. This residue then becomes sticky when it encounters gasoline. Get rid of the residue first, and you won't have any problems.
