Not necceraly contaminated with water. Most people in the midwest shed there tractors. Unless it has sat out side for a long long time or never under a roof you then change it. anither trick is to let it sit for a week to 10 days and then take out the drain plug...... water should come out first. most of the water comes in from the where the shifter meets the cover. plus the top bolts that hold the cover on can leak water in the rearend. I always shed my tractors even if they dont run! Plus i alway start and run my tractors at least once a month. and if it is a once a month starting tractor i like to drain the tank by driving it around and putting in fresh gas at least evry 6 month. if im gonna let a engine sit for more than a few months and it runs i will take and drown the cylinders in oil as well as the carb. I do this on my generator that i use rarley. Since i did this i havent had any carb related problumes. i do recomend taking out the plug(s) and blowing out the excess oil to aid in starting. I know where there are three tractors that could still be good if this would of been done to them. Fill em up to the top with used oil if nothing else...its better then water. But people don;t think there gonna sit that long and a week turns into a month and months into years. then you go back to it only to have found it to be stuck. That must be a crappy feeling to find your engine stuck.
