Change the differential/transmission fluid, it is old and contaminated. It probably has not been changed in years, maybe decades. Also if you take it apart, and it has not been run in a while, don't be surprised if the bull gears are pitted from sitting in water. A lot of the water can be condensation, from lack of use and maintenance, not necessarily from rain. If it has been used regularly, it will be in far better condition.
