The color is from the alt or gen. off the arm. is Blue and the fiel wire is yellow and the ing. wire is black . If i am maken up a wire harness for and alt. i run a 8 ga. in blue to the amp gauge the yellow to trigger the alt. is in a 14 ga. and the way i do up a push me pull me switch for the ing. is i use a Cv relay to trigger the alt . and use the ing. as the trigger wire for the cv relay . The ing. switch to coil is in black and is 14 ga. from the amp gauge to starter pos post is a 8 ga in red , you can get away with a 10 ga. instead of the 8 but i like to go heavier . Lites are either in a brown or a purple in a 14 ga. to 12 ga. As for the sheild yes it is av. in bulk and i get it from Terminal Suppy out of Cleveland O. also get heavy duty no insulated ends from them and use black heat shrink after crimping , this makes for a more Factory look then blue and yellow plastic showen .
