Generators are polarized, (sorry) regulators are not. To polarize the Gen:
Place a jumper wire between a good ground, and the Smaller F terminal of the GEN.
Use another jumper to momentarily connect the battery terminal of the regulator to the Arm (bigger) terminal of the gen. This will produce a medium spark, and set the polarity of the field poles of the generator with magnetism. It actually magnetises the iron of the fields with the correct polarity, so the generator can self start when firstbeginning to get up to speed when started each time. JimN
