The motor serial number is stamped on a flat spot under # 1 spark plug. They are tough to see but it will be there. The motor serial number may not match the tractor serial number exactly but it will be close. Also the the major components will have the date code in the casting, such as 7*16*X or 7*16*Y where the X is for 1952 and the Y is for 1953. the other part would be for the 7th month and the 16th day. The easiest way to tell is if the gas tank is sitting on the hydraulic unit or if there is about 2" gap.
