Some IH tractors like the 666 do time with number one at TDC, but all 74/84/85/95 series time with the number 2 at TDC for the balancer. I do know that because I have put them in before. THe book says when installing the balancer, first rotate crankshaft position number two piston at TDC of compression stroke. This is the proper way of doing it, for I have put in new balncers on several 74/84/85/ series tractors and they are all the same.
