After reading the above post about the pintle hitch, could it be that is what is on yours? I do know that they made pintle hitches as early as 1918. Saw two on early 1918 crawlers made for the army in WW1. They had Holt under carraige, A BIG Winton 6 cyl engine, and the armor plate was made by Diebold safe company and right on the back were BIG Pintle hitches for pulling the big guns with. these units never made it to France as the war ended and the Army cancelled the contract. This guy had 2 of them. The only other weird looking hitch I have seen is the hillside hitch. They seemed to be popular in Pennsylvania.
