Hobo: Just curious, is that the former generator pulley with hub machined shorter? I looked at doing this with my generator pullies, however the dual pullies I use are about 3/4" smaller diameter, thus driving the alternator much faster. It worked well thus I have been reluctant to change. I don't have diodes or small lamps to excite my alternators. Since these tractors have an extra wire in the harness, I added a push button type switch below switch on dash and use that extra wire. With the smaller pullies my 140 excites on it's own 90% of the time. 130 never does, and SA about 50%. If they don't excite on their own, I just hit the button. My alternators are mounted very similar to yours except about 2" higher. My throttle rod from governor to carb is about midway up alternator. I did my 130 first, no problem, however the one I have on my SA does interfere with unhooking hood latch. I have to unhook the right side first. Of course the SA hood being 2" lower is the difference. This has allowed my alternator to tuck in much closer to engine block, roughly 1", allowing the throttle rod free movement behind the alternator. This puts the alternator about 2" from cultivator lift frame.

Product Review: Lead Substitutes - by Mike Schordine. Lead was oriinally added to gasoline as an upper cylinder lubricant. It lubes the valves and seats. If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution. And, if you are like me, your tractor is under cover, but it sits outside. So with every temperature change, the humidity in the air collects in the fuel tank, in the form of water.
