The PTO is a self contained unit with the pump and clutch all contained in the PTO unit. The rear hydraulic pump provides oil for the hitch and auxialary valves only. Oil from the hitch pump was never used for lubrication of any of the transmission or rear end. There is always a posibillity of contamination in the oil returning from the auxialary valves so you would want that oil to be filtered before it was sent to any bearings.
