If you had the original seal you can see it had a double seal in there. It was twice as thick as the new seals and there was a little gap between the two seals but they were built as one seal. I think it was georgeky that told me about the shaft wearing. If you feel on the drive shaft you will likely feel a wear spot in it. Try putting the new seals in where they are as far apart from each other as you can and that way it avoids the old wore spot. The metal part of the seals should face towards the outside. With the two seals it makes it difficult to get it back on the shaft without one of the seals lips catching on the shaft and curling back. Get a piece of pvc pipe the same size as the shaft and run it thru the two seals first then butt the pipe up to the shaft and slide the assembly onto the shaft. Apply a little greese to the new gasket to help it seal.
