Adam: The balancad head mowers George and Steven have mentioned would need major modification to fit a Farmall 100. Even with that, they would be much too heavy. Those mowers were specifically designed for H, SH, 300, 330, 340, 504 and larger tractors. I had one, came with a farm I bought, mounted it twice, and after those few jambed fingers I sold it.
IH did make a balanced head mower for the offset tractors, it was called the highway mower and I think if my memory is correct the model number was C-23. The C-23 was only recomended if tractor had industrial front axle. The rear cast hub normally on right side had to be put on left, and the right rear wheel hub always had to be dished out. The reason for all this was mower weight, it would upset tractor to right under mormal wheel configureation.
The way I have it figured, if mower was that heavy it was too damn heavy for those light chassis. I'll bet those folks broke more than a few torque tubes, possibly final drives. You got to remember, most of those were bought new by various levels of governments. Common sence by those guys wasting our money is not new, they were doing it back in the 50s as well. I always figured that was not a good reason for me to waste my money, thus I don't have a C-23 mower. Back then, when mowers got that heavy, farmers went to heavier tractors for mowing, hence the models George and Steven mention.
