Picked up a Cub yesterday with an external coil and is configured for a magneto, so I"m guessing the mag is not operational at this point. I don"t see any resistor and that might explain why the previous owner was not getting a spark.. the 12 volt system (has 12 v battery) most likely burned up the points.
I like all original machines, but I would like to get the little Cub going again on a mag and retain the 12 volt system (charge, start, and lights only, no 12 v ignition) to see for a while what I"ve got until I can run off the mag. Suggestions welcome for a short duration run while I get the mag rebuilt.
Been out of the loop a while.. who rebuilds Cub mags these days?
