Anything is posable on IH tractors, so you could be right about your tractor. But I have a lot of information and pictures that I could post about MD and stage one SMD that shows the standard IH way was 2 battery boxes and 2 6 volt batterys wired in series to make 12 volt system. I suspect a lot of the battery boxes beside seat got eliminated early in the tractors live because the boxes were in the way.
