The shield "stud" (what it is called) will need to be cleaned with a wire brush till sparkling then looked at to find its center, then senter punched in the very center and drilled out and tapped (get some help on the first few so your experience is positive. The heat control damper shaft and lever will come loose, and will need to be reproduced to repair it. it is often in the state you have. It will not affect the way it runs (unless the damper is rusted completely away) There will be other priorities first.
