I replaced the seals on mine and thought the shaft didn't look too badly worn so I put it back in, but it still leaked. I finally had to replace the shaft too to get her to dry up, so if your shaft shows much wear at the seals, I'd suggest you save yourself some time and put in a new shaft as well as seals.
