You will need a different sw for the dist. One side of the new sw will go to battery voltage and other wire from sw to the dist. Your new sw needs two posts. Your old sw just had one post and the sw was grounded so when you pushed the sw in it grounded out the mag. Your regulator is not original so any wiring dia mite not show all the connections as original did not have a post for the lites as they were controlled by the lite sw on the steering post where the ammeter is located.
