I was at the junkyard today buying my $90 pair of orginal H fenders. I was also pulling some misc. hardware that I needed. So I was pulling some U-bolts off an MD, and I looked over and saw a starter tank! It never occured to me... old MD's started on gas and switched to diesel! So I grabbed a couple of pics and looked around and saw 3 other tanks. There may be others still, because M's and MD's were very popular around here!
I checked the part numbers tonight to make sure, but the part numbers are the same! I just need to find one with the right valve at the bottom and I can buy a new correct fuel line at OEM.
So I'm stoked! What was considered rare happens to be pretty common where I am!
I wonder what they go for on e-bay. Maybe I should hog them up and sell them for restoration money! :D
