I agree with you on the one seal concept. I don't understand why people think they need to put two seals in where the old style leather seal was. Like you said, you can install the seal so that it is in a spot on the shaft where it is not grooved. All modern machinery has only one seal just like the replacement you buy at CNH or where ever you get them. There is even a down side to two seals in that the outside seal is running dry as it gets no lubrication from the transmission fluid or whatever you are sealing. Roger
