There's several possible causes of this problem. I'm sure you've already made sure that the quad ring that seals the filter to the filter housing. Next comes the short tube between the filter housing and the pump, it has a seal around the outside of it. It's about a 10 minute job to replace the tube/seal assembley once you've got the oil drained. Next most likely is the return line from the aux. valves to the main pick-up tube. You can inspect that by removing the top 3-point hitch link bracket and looking inside the rear end housing, look for oil spray with the engine running. Then there's the main pick-up tube. I just replaced this on my 544, which has the same rear end as your 656. Tractor had to be split and the top shaft had to come out of the trans. The other possibilty is the o-ring between the clutch housing and trans housing.
