Rich: I don't know the part numbers for any of these larger engines, however after 1954 all IH four cylinder gas engines had displacment cast into the block as in C-123 used in offsets 200, etc. C-135 used in 404, C-153 used in 504, C-169 used in 300 and C-175 used in 350. These numbers are cast on right side of block, as I've typed it. All these engines were sleeved except the C-153.
I think Hal pretty well nailed the reason; C-123, C-135 and C-153 are all the same block, just bored larger. The C-169 and C-175 are the same block but much heavier than the smaller block, lot more steel in them, basically the main reason why they are a better engine for 35 to 45 hp.
