I think Diesel fuel and Distillate are fairly similar and would probably burn OK. First and foremost though, you will need a manifold with the heat control valve in working order that can be set in the hot position. You will also need radiator shutters to maintain the coolant temperature at around 200°F. The compression ratio for distillate on the H was 4.75, kerosene 4.5, gasoline 5.9. The distillate fuel used in the Nebraska Test had an Octane rating of 37 if it is of any interest.
I had access to about 200 gals. of jet fuel once, and used it in my H successfully. The heat control valve was stuck in the mid position but that seemed to be hot enough to fully vaporise the fuel. Sid.
