A regulator equipped genertor (delco A type) grounds the field to make it charge. The connection to the light switch is not used at all. The light switch wire that was connected to the field terminal should be disconnected from the light switch, and disconnected from the generator, and not used. The F terminal of the reg is connected (#12 wire) to the Fterminal of the gen. (small terminal) The Bat terminal on the reg is attached to the side of the amp meter away from the connection attached to the starter switch (10gauge wire). The Gen terminal on the Reg connects to the A (big) terminal on the gen. The lights will continue to work correctly with this change, the switch will have two OFF positions L and H. The D and B positions will still work the lights. Be sure the regulator is well grounded, and polarize the gen (with all wires connected, and the battery in and connected) before starting by jumping briefly (1 second) between the Gen terminal and the Bat terminal on the reg.
