I got a 50s IH 1 row picker. I dont know what wood piece you describe. Theres a wood piece guide that fits under the roller chain in front that acts as a guide under the roller chain. I lucked out and found a piece of wood that had a channel cut in it to let the chain lay in it. The elevator paddels are metal sheet metal. U might look at the bottom of the elevator. Theres a curved sheet of metal at the bottom of the elevator that the elevator paddels just miss. Its to catch and hold any loose kernals. It uasually catches water and dirt instead and rots out, which leaves the loose kernals to fall on the floor. As to the kinked chains, id spray Blaster on them liberally and work with them. Theyll come loose. I have alot of trouble with the elevator stop that stops the elevator from running while makeing turns. The chain should be tight enough that you can easily put just your thumb under the elevator chain. If you can pick up a paddel say 4in, its way too loose. !/2 that is ok. If you pull the pto shaft forward it shouldnt fall backward, but its easy to do as its so well balenced. I lowered the elevator top so as top be closer to my wagon, but not so close that it hits the wagon if I go across a ditch, tho I dont have any in my field. The corn sahould fall 1/3 of the way back of the front of the wagon, Vibration will kinda keep it level. Good luck, There good pickers.
