My SMTA, like many, is equipted with a hydraulis remote and the lift-all system, but no longer has the belt pully. My question is, is the lift-all able to be used as a second remote, that is, to run a 2nd cylinder independently of the hyd. remote as direct lift? If so, is it just a matter of attaching hoses to the outlets on the back of the reservoir, and use the lift-all control rod the same as the remote control or was it simply not designed to work this way at all? Is the lift-all purly hyd. lift and gravity return? According to the opp.man. the top outlet was routed through the belt pully which, as I said, is no longer on the tractor. Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
