Hey Ray, My thoughts on a MTA l/p is that they are factory because if you wanted a mta lp from factory you could order one.Just like a Super M lp.The one I have I bought from the orgnial owner and he ordered it that way from IH. Also in 54 they turned the tank long ways and stayed that way from 54 to 58 on the 450s. All the same parts on that mta is also the same from the 52 Super M lps to the 58 450 lps. The gas tanks also are the same, from Lub, Tx. O one more thing is that if your S# has a C on the end of it ,LIKE MINE that also tells me that they made them.
