As soon as the mag fires and the engine runs the mag goes to 33 or so advance and you cannot change that so your problem is not the mag. Check as always compression with either cold or warm engine as we just want a reading and have them all pretty much alike. Then maybe new plugs sounds more like spark cause if it is out of gas it would die.
