Yes, most did have independant PTO, which is driven any time the engine is running. It is hydraulic and can be feathered in gear at any engine speed. The 400 has a lever on the right of seat to engage pto with. Some did not have IPTO and are clutch/tranny driven. Like the Brown Dirt Cowboy said, live and independant are two different things.
