OK Terry, are you saying that you FOUND something that looks like a washer spacer in one of the final drive pans or do you mean one of the washers that go on the axle shaft end behind the bearing caps?????
What I'm getting is that you found a concave part in the pan.....
If so then take a close look at this piece. If the edges are rough and upon closer inspection look broken then I can tell you that it is part of the casting of the final drive, the backside of one of the threaded implement holes, that has broken off due to over tightening of the attaching bolts.
As for the rivets, you will need a helper to backup the rivet while you peen it. Just use a heavy bar or something and have him back up the rivet while you snug it up on the other with a flat punch and hammer. If it's really loose you could use a centerpunch too.
