The 400 carb will work okay, but I can still tell the differance between it and a SM carb. from several feet away because the idle air adjusting screws are in a different spot.Also the 362173 R91 and 92 don't have the nut on bottom of bowl that holds main discharge jet in like the SM. Original R91 carbs didn't have a high speed adjustment screw,just a plug in the hole. Also the main discharge jet, main jet or seat, and some passages are different between R91 and R92. IH sold a changeover kit to convert R91 to R92 after they went to the R92 carburetor. Carb was used on 450 also. A 400 distillate or kerosene carb is made like a SM carb.
