NDS: Come on now,LOL, you know I have 2 - 12 volt conversions in my 130 and 140. Ah, but the conversion I like best is the 6 volt alternator in my Super A. If it weren't for a 12 volt motor I use the 130 and 140 would have 6 volt alternators.
Most folks confuse this matter as they call it one issue. It is two issues, the first one being 6 or 12 volt, and either if properly maintained will start any Farmall gasser under 200 cubic inches. The second issue is generator or alternator, and there is no question the alternator is by far the best charging system, be it 6 or 12 volt. You will buy and maintain an alternator for about 1/2 the cost of a generator.
I've read Dave's post and he probably should look at an alternator even though his generator is working. He'll probably buy the 6 volt alternator for less money than the voltage regularor for his current generator.
